Dom Smaz, born 1983, is a Swiss-Brazilian photographer who lives in Lausanne and works frequently in Brazil. Since 2011, he has been working for the Swiss and international press and has won the Swiss Press Award several times,. His works are often related to the topics of colonial heritage, racism, social differences and exclusion. In 2018, he participated in the exhibition Mobile Welten at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg with the participation of the Johann Jacobs Museum Zurich. In 2019, part of his project Black Helvetia, on which the publication Helvécia is based, was exhibited at Fotográfica Bogotá Festival (Colombia). Smaz graduated from the photography school in Vevey (Switzerland) in 2012. He is a member of the French agency Hans Lucas.
