David Signer

David Signer (*1964) studied ethnology, psychology and linguistics in Zurich and Jerusalem and received his PhD in 1994. He was a research assistant and lecturer at the University of Zurich, worked in the refugee sector and undertook field research in Israel and various countries in West Africa. Signer worked as an editor and journalist for Swiss newspapers such as Tages-Anzeiger, Weltwoche and NZZ am Sonntag. From March 2013, he oversaw the Africa dossier at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ, from 2016-2020 as Africa correspondent from Dakar and since December 2020, he has been reporting on the USA and Canada from Chicago. Signer is the author of several books.
