Dom Smaz (*1983) is a Swiss-Brazilian photographer who is based in Lausanne and often works in Brazil. He is a five-time winner of the Swiss Press Award and regularly contributes to national and international press, including Le Temps, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Tages Anzeiger, Sunday Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Die Zeit. His photographs often deal with the themes of colonial heritage, social differences and marginalization. In 2018, he took part in the show Mobile Worlds, mounted by the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MK&G), Hamburg, in partnership with the Johann Jacobs Museum, Zurich. In 2019, part of his Helvécia project was featured at the Festival Internacional de Fotografia of Bogotá, Colombia. Smaz graduated from Vevey’s School of Photography in 2012 and is a member of the French photography agency Hans Lucas.
