Hugues C. Boekraad (*1942) studied classical languages and philosophy in Nijmegen. In 1969, he was one of the founders of the publishing house SUN (Socialistiese Uitgeverij Nijmegen) where he worked as editorial secretary and editor until 1983. He then became professor of graphic design at St. Joost Akademie in Breda, Holland and received the prize for art criticism from the Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture (BKVB) for his reflections on graphic design in 2008.
