LC Foto: Le Corbusier Secret Photographer, Album Punjab 1951

In “LC FOTO: Le Corbusier Secret Photographer” the architectural historian Tim Benton reflects on the famous architect’s use of photography, bringing to light unpublished material from the late 1930s when Le Corbusier was at the height of his powers, as well as reflecting on the ambitions of the young architect seen through his earlier photographs. Photography also plays an important role in the new facsimile edition of the “Album Punjab, 1951”, which reveals Le Corbusier’s private sketches and notes made during his first trip to the Indian state of Punjab in anticipation of the planning and construction of Chandigarh. The facsimile is accompanied by a volume of commentary including previously unpublished photographs by his cousin Pierre Jeanneret who joined him on the momentous trip and was part of the core architectural team of Chandigarh.
